Our friends Mike and Katy invited us to spend New Years near Grand Lake, CO. We all pitched in and rented a cabin near the lake.
We arrived in Grand Lake after a few hours of treacherous winter driving. Luckily, we survived the ride, and decided to celebrate by eating Rocky Mountain Oysters.
What better way to end 2010 than by eating cow testicles. This was the most ballsy thing I did in 2010.
After dinner, we head back to the cabin. We play some board games while we wait for the clock to count down. At midnight, we step out into the freezing cold and toast the new year.
It was freezing. Below freezing. Like, -18 degrees freezing with a 30 degree wind chill freezing.
But we persevered and watched the local fireworks display from the porch.
The next day, we head out for a snow shoeing hike.
Katy demonstrates the proper technique for making a snow-shoe angel.

Our freezing car
We made a snow man. The snow was so cold that it didn't stick. We had to form Mr. Snowman out of frozen ice clumps.
Day 2: Another snow shoeing hike near the lake.
This hike had far less haze, and led to some spectacular views.
