Last Friday the Stanford Alumni Association put on a talk. My friend Cristina and I arrived early, so we helped tie balloons up nearby to lead people to the event. It had just finished raining, a rainbow appeared, and I snapped a shot. What a gorgeous time of year! (What can I say, I'm a sucker for big, beautiful skies.)
My husband loves lakes. So last week I took him on a mini-date after work to the Waneka Reservoir (which I actually thought was a lake right up until I went to look up its official name for this post). Anyway, it was beauuuutiful!
The other day, I spent a good chunk of the day at Burger King working while I waited for my car to get worked on at the shop. And look what I discovered there... Coke pairings! Why has no one else thought of this?!
Last weekend our friends Steve and Kate came to visit us from California. While we waited for them at the airport, Jake played the airport guy sign game: every time they didn't come up the escalator, he had to add something to his sign. As you can imagine, his sign turned out to be quite elaborate.
They were just here for a day and it was a beautiful one. We walked around the Pearl Street Mall, drove up above the Flatirons for a view of Boulder, saw a movie (Super 8 - it was pretty good!), had brunch at Centro downtown, and then drove up into the mountains, where we found a lake and Jake waded out to the center. He only got a little wet.

The weekend before last, we went Glamping. That's right, Glamorous Camping. (Thanks to Amanda for the new vocab!)
We took our 2-bedroom Taj MaTent, our handy stove, our 7-gallon water jug (which Eric heroically carried down to the campsite for us, thank you Eric!), and everything else anyone can possibly think of with us and headed for the woods. Jake cooked us a ginormous feast for dinner, complete with various veggies, steak kebabs, baked potatoes, and peach cobler for dessert. For breakfast Amanda provided scones and quiche from the bakery along with fresh fruit. And of course there were s'mores, too.
We went on a little hike around the campground and admired all the nature. Mike even got some fly-fishing in, with his awesome portable fly fishing pole. And Katy earns bonus points for camping while very pregnant! We stayed up late and talked by the campfire while Jackson made sure no squirrels came near and all our canine visitors smelled acceptable.
What a great time. Hooray for Glamping! Hope YOU will join us next time :)
